Welcome Letter

Dear Parents/Guardians,

Welcome to Room 78! My name is Ms. Florence and I am very excited to be your child’s teacher for this school year.  I know that we are going to have a positive and successful school year together. We have many exciting and important things to learn in the first grade. This letter will give you a chance to learn more information about myself and our classroom.

I attended college at Buffalo State University in Buffalo, New York. I received my Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Instruction and my Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Instruction. I have a New York State teaching license as well as a Nevada State teaching license. This is my third year teaching in the Clark County District. Prior to this year, I was a third grade teacher. Teaching children is something that I have wanted to do since I was in the second grade. My goal is to prepare your child for his or her future. I would like each child in my class to succeed to their highest learning ability.

It is easier for a child to learn when he or she can relate to the topics that they are learning about. I would like to get to know each one of my students as an individual so I can plan my lesson plans accordingly.

Parent Involvement is an important part of a classroom.  I encourage and support parent involvement in our classroom. I will send home a volunteer sheet for you to read during our Meet and Greet.  If you are unable to make it, I will send it home with your child on the first day. Please take the time to complete it and send it back to school with your child. I will then schedule a meeting for all of the volunteers and myself to discuss procedures and guidelines.

If you have any comments or concerns feel free to call me at 799-6600 or email me at mflorence@interact.ccsd.net I hope to see all of you at our Meet and Greet.  Laughing

                                                                                                                                Sincerely,

                                                                                                                Ms. Florence
